Hi, I am Kevin, a former Army officer and a retired Police Officer originally from Commerce, Texas, but now in New Mexico.  With my background, I know firearms, especially AR platforms.  That said, I am now the proud owner of two SWAT firearms, one in .223 and the other in .308.  I ordered the .308 because I was so impressed with the quality of my .223.  I want to say this right up front.  SWAT Firearms weapons are expensive, but not unreasonably so.  The adage of “you get what you pay for,” doesn’t really apply because with a SWAT Firearms weapon, you get more than what you pay for.  Yes, you can buy an AR platform firearm for less, but you are getting a lot less as well.  Curiously enough, other custom made AR firearms cost twice as much, but don’t give you any more than a SWAT Firearms AR.

The first thing that becomes apparent when you examine the rifle as you pull it from the box is the quality soft carry case included with it.  This is a nice touch.  However, you forget about the soft case the moment you see the rifle.  Sure, most AR style rifles look good when you first see at them, but the weapons from SWAT have an unmatched finish, smooth and even, with no blemishes.  The next thing you notice is the fit.  There are AR platform weapons out there, that when you take them from the box and give them a shake, you can hear things rattling around.  You will not find this with a SWAT AR.  There is no rattling and when assembled, when you close the upper and push in the pins, the gun locks up like a bank vault, because the upper and lower billets are milled by SWAT, not gathered together from forged pieces and slapped together.

As you examine the rifle, you will see that the muzzle brake/flash hider fits exactly on the barrel.  They seem to flow together.  The hand guards come in various options and when assembled, the hand guard mates perfectly with the Picatinny railed top, which by the way, is milled into the upper receiver.  It isn’t a bolt on like some platforms, this milling erases a possible problem with accuracy, that of a loose rail.  The SWAT logo, and other information are lettered crisp and cleanly, showing the same outstanding craftsmanship as the rest of the rifle.

On the range, topped with Vortex Strike Eagle scopes, I was able to shoot MOA groups with both weapons using military surplus ammunition.  That isn’t a testimony to my skills, but rather to the quality construction of the rifle.  I expect those groups to tighten up as I work up the hand loads to wring out as much accuracy as I can.

Keep in mind, these are custom built, milled upper and lower receiver rifles.  Because of the custom nature and the attention to quality, it takes time to get your order built, inspected, tested and shipped.  I could go on about the superb quality of SWAT Firearms products, but I won’t.  Yes, they are fully customizable and you can get any finish, barrel, trigger group, bolt carrier and just about anything else simply by calling one of the sales representatives.

The sales representatives are all friendly and understand the company’s products because they own and shoot the gun themselves.  The sales representative I worked with on my .308 build was Jeanette.  She’s a star when it comes to customer service.  I’m the curious and exacting type of person.  I want to know everything about my build.  Jeanette is always quick to respond and answer any questions you might have about a build.  Jeanette cares about the customer and will do all she can to keep you abreast of your order’s status and ship date.  She was certainly patient with me as I asked her a bunch of questions.

Bottom line, if you want a customized superb AR platform rifle, which is reasonably priced, call SWAT Firearms and speak to Jeanette or one of the other sales team members.  You can’t go wrong!
